Flat Catch
Catching Drill 3 – The Flat Catch
This type of catch is usually taken in shorter fielding positions where the ball may be travelling quite fast and still rising.
- The base position is with your knees bent and your hands apart ready to take the ball.
- In this case use the reverse technique (see Catching Drill 2) to give you a far more mobile response to a fast moving ball taken above eye level.
- Remember the old saying that ‘catches win matches’ is still true so practise hard at becoming a really good catcher of the ball.
